What is ghee?

Ghee is a lactose-free clarified butter. We bake all our products with ghee for its signature buttery flavor and added nutrition. Our ghee only comes from dairy farmers with responsible grazing practices.

Is ghee good for you?

Yes! Ghee is incredible from a nutritional standpoint - it's often used in Ayurvedic cuisine and traditional medicine. It's a natural source of omega fatty acids, CLA, Butyric acid, and vitamins A, K, D, and E, which can improve gut health and biochemistry, AND allow your body to absorb nutrients from the food you eat.

Is ghee vegan?

No. Although ghee is lactose-free, ghee is made by simmering and straining out the milk solids in butter.

Why grass-fed?

We opt for grass-fed from both an environmental and nutritional standpoint.

Responsible grazing practices can benefit the land by reducing herbicide usage, improving water infiltration, and reducing erosion and nutrient runoff for healthier soils. Grass-fed also improves livestock wellfare and increases the amount of beta carotenes found in our ghee.

Is your granola gluten free?

Yes! Our granola's primary ingredient is organic gluten-free rolled oats.

Is your granola organic?

We believe in organic integrity and source organically as much as possible: our sourcing comes down to the ingredients' availability, and the choice to purchase certified organic or local ingredients. Many of our local farms practice organic agriculture but may not pursue certification due to the costs. All our ingredients are non-GMO.

Why is your product more expensive than other granolas?

So glad you asked! A couple of reasons - first, we use higher quality ingredients than most granola companies. Most granolas in the market use cheap ingredients like refined oil (canola, sunflower, safflower), syrups, and flavorings.

Ghee, particularly grass-fed, comes at a premium price point. You may know that butter is more expensive than oil, but ghee is even more expensive than butter because of its extensive process in removing the lactose.

Our main ingredient, organic gluten-free oats, is also 3x as expensive as regular conventional oats, regular gluten-free, or even regular organic oats. Take a look at other granolas, and you may find how challenging it is to find another granola product that uses oats that are both organic and gluten-free.

Second, running a food business is hard work. It's labor and time-intensive. As Americans, we have been conditioned to underpaying for conveniently packaged food, due to corporations controlling the industry for many, many years. Unfortunately, there's a huge disconnect between where our food comes from and how much work is put into it. As a small company, we are not using big machinery to extrude or tumble our granola products—we are mixing it and patting it down onto baking trays by hand! We believe in paying production workers what their jobs are truly worth.

We started this business with the mission to feed others as we wish to be fed and to provide you with an exceptional flavor experience. At the end of it all... $12 is a fair price to give for a small business using organic, local, small-batch ingredients, and paying a fair amount for labor. We do not believe in compromising the quality of our ingredients or wellbeing of our employees for the sake of costs, therefore with our quality and fair practices, our price is well worth-it.

How long will my granola stay fresh and how should I store it?

Take a look at the best by date on the back of the bag - we do recommend eating it way before that date for optimal flavor! We always want you to have the freshest experience. We recommend storing it under cool, dry conditions, or even better, in the fridge to extend the shelf life. Reseal your bag tightly once opened or store in an air-tight container, as oxygen will cause granola to go stale.

What do I do with your granola?

Although most people like eating it straight out of the bag, our granola offers so many creative uses! You can most definitely put the rosemary and vanilla bean flavors on yogurt. We suggest our savory granolas such as rosemary and black truffle on soups, salads, gratins, you name it. Get creative!
